A campaign has been started to raise money for decorative street signs in our neighborhood. As of March 2011, a total of 26 decorative street signs have been purchased; only seven are left. The residents on Westgate Road paid for the new  sign on the corner of Westgate and Bit & Spur Road. The daughters of resident Dottie MeGehee paid for the new sign on the corner of Rochester Road and Jordan Road as a tribute to their mother on Mother’s Day. Dottie spent years as a Wimbledon Garden Club member in charge of overseeing the health and maintenance of the beautiful entranceways and island gardens throughout our neighborhood.  The Wimbledon Garden Club made a substantial donation to help jump start the campaign efforts. The Garden Club which oversees our beautification efforts throughout the neighborhood, paid for the decorative street signs at the newly renovated island at Wimbledon Road and Country Club Road. And finally The Country Club of Mobile paid for one of the new yield signs as well.

The signs are $450 each. If you are interested in sponsoring a street sign or would like to raise money on your street for a decorative sign, please contact Susan Carley for more information. carleys@bellsouth.net

4TH PRECINCT WEBSITE TO COMBAT CRIME

Captain William “Eddie” Patrick, from the Mobile Police Department’s 4th precinct, is fighting crime through e-mail! He has added more than a thousand names to his e-mail distribution list in our community and regularly sends out e-mails regarding crimes, suspects, victims and how we all can help! He has also been gracious enough to speak at several of the individual street meetings organized by the street captains of Country Club Estates. Eddie is thrilled our neighbors are taking an active step to meet each other and talk about these issues.     Captain Patrick also announced a website where you can track crime in our precinct. The website, www.4thprec.org, will be updated regularly.

For further questions, of if you’d like to receive his e-mails regarding crime in our district, please e-mail him at william.patrick@cityofmobile.com.  To report a crime or for other non-emergencies, please dial 208-7211 if we see something suspicious.
